Danny On Trail Big Mountain Whitefish, Montana Youth Hike

Starting at an elevation of 4464 at the bottom of Big Mountain we took the very popular Danny On Trail, which meanders up the slopes of Big Mountain through blooming wildflowers to the 6,871 summit. The main route is 3.8 miles UP! It's a beautiful hike and great exercise!!
I didn't see any huckleberries ripe yet. I heard at the base lodge they are ready to pick!

Looking out at the Flathead Valley and the big lake there is Whitefish Lake.

Glacier Raft Company Raft Trip on the Flathead River

A great August raft trip. We had a huge group of friends that got together from all over the US and had a great time rafting. We used Glacier Raft Company in Glacier National Park.
We went rafting on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.
The Middle Fork Flathead River is 92 miles long and forms the southwest boundary of Glacier National Park.
The guides are great and our whole group was vegetarian and on the full day raft trip they stop along the way and BBQ us up some great vegetarian burgers.

Look how scenic it is. It's just beautiful to be out on the river.

Heres our whole group at West Glacier and what a great day we had rafting the beautiful Middle Fork of the Flathead River with Glacier Raft Company.
Below Moccasin Creek to West Glacier are classII-IV rapids such as Jaws and Bone Crusher.

Glacier National Park Piegan Pass Hike 10-mile

I hope you enjoy this photo journey starting at Going to the Sun Road on the east side of Logan Pass. We started out at Siyeh Bend and proceeded to head for Piegan Pass. Piegan pass is halfway between Logan Pass and Many Glacier. While at the top we enjoyed watching the squirrels, sliding down the snow fields, a great lunch and breath taking scenery. We also found some big nails and some old mortar. With a little research we discovered that until 1943 there were large bells you could ring at the top of six passes including Piegan Pass. It is truly a beautiful hike. Enjoy!

Glacier National Park North Fork Flathead River Camping

We decided to go camping out on the west side of Glacier National Park about 45 miles out of Columbia Falls. It's a gravel road a lot of the way. It rural and wild for sure.
We love to have fun in the Flathead River.

Glacier National Park Lake McDonald

Lake McDonald is near the west entrance of Glacier National Park.
Lake McDonald is 10 miles long and 450 feet deep. Lake McDonald is the largest lake in Glacier National Park and is more than a mile wide.
Nice picnic tables to have our picnic lunch.
 Ready for the lake.
We all had 3 kayaks and one motorized raft.
Some of us got to swim.

This is McDonald Creek everyone in the kayaks went on this route and we drove over and picked them up about an hour later where the Flathead river meets McDonald Creek.
